Default Ahhh!! Need help with TPS installation...

I have my new TPS in place and the top bolt was easy to install being its in a wide open area. The bottom bolt however [:@]. My car has a front strut tower bar across the engine and ive been reduced to letting my wife's smaller hands try to get that bottom bolt in. She cant get it in because of mainly the tower bar, im pretty sure everything is only a fraction in the way. If anyone has installed a TPS on a 97-99 Eclipse GST (or similar), does not having the tower bar make it that much easier? Even if I didnt have the tower bar I dont think theres anyway my hand could squeeze in that spot to get the bolt in. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I don't know if this will help, but when I replaced my IAC and TPS i just took the whol trottle off. Its wasn't hard, only two screws and it was a lot easier than trying to manuver around everything.

Yeah I thought of that too and it didnt work out. The cold air intake made it too hard to do that. I would have to remove the fuse box and take off the air filter tubing. And those couplings are pretty much stuck...Id want to have new ones to put back on. I think i gave the inside top of the throttle gasket a small pinch with the wrench when I tried to pull it off with the intake but I dont think its a anything severe. I just wanted it to be a simple TPS swap and its a lot easier said than done.

Taking it off isnt the problem...puting the new one on is. How did you put it back on? My hand is too big to get under the sensor to get that bottom bolt in. I tried using a magnetic philips to slide the bolt through the front but I ended up dropping the bolt after awhile. I had to get replacement bolts. I must not be using the right technique/method in reinstalling it.

Hehe, tried that too...ended dropping 2 screws that way. That was however the best way to do it for me but I just couldnt do it. I have about 2-3 screws left, ill attempt it once more. If I dont get it ill make sure the tps is pretty stable and drive it to my old autoshop workplace. Im sure my old boss wont charge me much for installing a 75% completed TPS job. Its installed pretty stable with one screw so far, so the only problems I should get is its still giving the ECU wrong throttle position readings. I dont think it will damage the sensor if I drive it to the shop. Thanks everyone.

Thanks everyone for your help but my TPS problem is now over!! I drove my car to my old shop and my boss put that last bolt on in like 5 minutes or less. How he got his hand to get that bolt in ill never know. Prior to adjusting it, the specs were 0%-2% on closed throttle position...after I installed it the reading was 6.7%. While I was driving it to the shop the idle and the acceleration was not pretty. After my boss adjusted it to 1.2% omg what a difference. The car feels smoother and runs better than when I first bought it. Im ecstatic, im sure ill pass my next emissions test no problem. Peace!
