Default 4500 rpm= Nothin! Ahhh

Iposted this a couple days ago saying that my turbo is losing power. But what I really meant to say is that my whole car loses power... I just put a new engine in my 96 GSX, everything seems to be running fine, but when I hit about 4500rmps my car just completely loses power and accelerates extremely sluggish. I havent had my car for two months and now I finally get it back and I now its back in the shop. My mechanic pretty much is relying on me to find out the problem... So if anyone can give me some ideas on what it could be, that would be awesome. I already know that I need to check all the pipes and make sure nothing is loose.

Also, on another note, my last engine's crank just snapped in half about 50 miles after I got my head gasket replaced, what could of caused this??

Thank guys I really appreciate your help, im so frustrated...

Dan

wear and tear and not taking care of it by the previous owner. Also crankwalk may have played a part. Do a compression check on the car. What kinda mods do you have. What turbo is in the car. What boost are you running. Details!! Details!!

Its a rebuilt engine, but new to me. Stock turbo, (t28 i think), I have a greddy bov, exhaust, injen intake, and thats about it. I have aboost gauge anda/fratio gauge, I havent tampered with the boost at all. How can I tell how much boost I am running?

I just got done driving it and I heard something. When I rev it up and left of the pedal, my BOV goes off, then I hear this faint whistling sound.... Leak somewhere?

The stock turbo is a t25, to tell the boost your running just floor it and watch the guage until it peaks then thats what your running. And also a head gasket doesnt make a car rebuilt. A rebuilt engine has all the rings and gaskets replaced in the block. It definetly sounds like a boost leak to me. What does your boost guage do at this point. I would do a boost leak test like keith said. Just do a search on how to make a tester

it sounds like a boost leak to me... check your couplers on your ic piping, check ur piping and intercooler. if you can't find anything use or make a boost leak tester (no more than 15 bucks in parts at lowe's or home depot.

Alright thanks guys. Oh and I had my head gasket replace in my oringinal engine then 3 days later the crank shaft snapped... I bought a rebuilt engine and had it installed and now I am having these problems. Its a fully rebuilt motor though. I'll get a boost leak tester and try that.
