Anybody know their WIRING?!
Okay, I'm putting my 95 eclipse gs together, and I ran into a little problem. The "BRAKE" light is always lit, and I already checked the switch for the parking brake in the console.
Is there another signal that tells the light to light for any reason other than the parking brake? I can probably fix it if there is, but i really need a direction to dig into if there is, and I dont want to tear the whole dash apart if there isnt. THANKS!

Sounds like you have a bad wire, or bad switch. Easiest way I can think of tracking down the problem is with an ohm meter. Make sure the switch is getting power, and if it's fully functional. If it isn't working poperly, try replacing it. If that doesn't work, then you probably have a loose or damaged wire somewhere, and that means tracking it down by taking stuff apart.
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think there is another switch or signal that would tell the BRAKE light to illuminate other than actually pulling the e-brake.

Thanks for the reply. The switch lights the light by grounding it though, and when the switch isnt grounding (and i'm sure of this) the light still lights up. This is why I was wondering if there was another possible signal to it. thanks
the brake light on the dash will light up when you need new brakes. Maybe there's something wrong with that aspect of it. Actually now that I think about it mine doesn't light up with the parking brake but did when my brakes got low so who knows.
Thats my car..... I have the very same car that you show in your pic. Hey I wanted to know if you have had any problems with the lights. First my passenger side went out so I bought a new bulb. When I pulled the conector off it had sorta melted. So I taped it up put the new bulb on all was ok. Then a few months later like almost six months the drivers side went dim on me. So I figured hey my light is burning out so Ill just get a new one. Well I did and when I pulled the back off it completly fell apart on me so I had to buy a new connection for it. I soldered the new on on and put the new bulb in and well my bulb is very dim (Imean VERY DIM) so now what any ideas I never changed the passengers side connector out but I did notice one thing that when I connected the drivers side buld my passenger side did brighten up a bit but drivers side still dim. Any Ideas that can help me out so I dont have to start cutting all that tape holding my wireing together so I can trace the wire back would help me and save me.
