Automatic to manual?
John, come on dude, you know exactly why, and although I agree with your points, you are being a tard about this.
There are many advantaged to having a manual transmission car. One, you have an added element of control in a slide situation. Two, you never have to worry about the transmission lock if the car stalls, or the battery goes dead. Three, it is just plain fun, and honestly when I drive I feel so much more connected to the road and much more in control.
May I remind you that NASCAR still uses the good ole stick? They have been used throughout motorsport history, even Formula 1 cars started off that way. In my opinion, it is the purest form of driving, and although automatics are much more consistant and faster at shifting, it doesn't make you a better driver.
I for one like the idea of that shift control box, and if I was STUCK with an automatic tranny DSM, you bet your *** I would get one.
On a side note, I think Shep actually flat shifts all gears except 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. The reason I say this is from watching his videos, I can tell.
