Default Automatic to a Manual.

I need some feedback on the diffuculty level of swaping an auto trans from a 98 GST to a manual. My friend is a ceterfied mech. and was about to do this to his accent. He already had the trans and everything and is very familiar with doing this. Im just curious because i cant get a hold of him right now, how hard it would be to swap the 2. I know its not real easy but for the 4g63 is their anything i should know about not doing this? Feedback asap would be much apreciated.

Its not that bad, just make sure you have all the parts to convert it, and basic knowledge on how a clutch works with the manual. I have only done one, and it was on a 72 camaro.

don't bother. Get a manual in the first place. You'll never get the mounting right not only that you also have to add the hydraulic system for the clutch and probably replace the transaxles. With a rear wheel drive car it's easy because yhe shifter goes throught he floor into the trans in a FWD you have to also add the cables and mounts and all the fun stuff.

You can get decent #'s on an auto just don't plan on major racing events. And if you want to build this engine up then you find a car with a blown engine but it has a 5 speed... Easy to swap engines out (At leat easier than swapping from auto to manual LOL).
