Default battery help

well my battery died on me on the way home from school and my grandpa took it to walmart and they said it was fine and to check the alternator. is there anything else i should check? also the guy i bought it from had subs in there and only unhooked the wire from the subs so the wire is still connected somewhere so is that wire still being plugged in using any power? that was another suggestion the guy at walmart had.

check to see if the battery terminals are clean, i replaced my alternator and those at the same time. Go to autozone and have 'em check the altenator. (sp)

I think a ground came off or something. Check em all and check that the terminals were nice and tight.
