I have a 98 gst that was running great till my battery light came on. The alternator burnt up so I replaced it. Now the alternator is perfect but the battery light is coming on because the alternators not putting out 12v . I heard that the computers could be causing this..... any input would be appreciated........ thannks

Yep. Ok if you have a decent battery you should have a little peep hole that you can look through to check the condition of it. If its black or white you need to repalce it... green is good.

 

I tested the batt. with a voltage meter and it registered right at 12v but my alternator jumps up and down on how much voltage its pushing out.... it will be at like 11.4 then drop to 5 then back to 8v

 

ok then either you have a short some place. or your alt is bad again or you have a loose wire.
