the black is just from running rich. Its carbon deposits.

Well, your "hello" post shows that you have an AEM fuel rail with ?sized injectors, 16g, and no fuel managment. I would think that, that may cause some of that richness.
Do you have an AFPR or upgraded fuel pump?

I have the FPR but i am not sure about the pump. I would guess the previous own would have done that but you never know, There is a fuel pressure guage in the engine bay. What would be the correct fuel pressure for my setup? I can pull the pump and look to see what it is if that would help. Also i am looking into a safc or dsm link but they are pretty expencive. If i were to "barrow" one and tune the A/F mixture then remove it would it keep the settings or just reset back to the previous?
thanks,
keith

Yeah, the settings are saved in the SAFC. Once you remove it, the settings are gone. The SAFC is a piggy back system, so all the settings are in it. DSMLink is a little different because there's a chip in the ECU that gets programmed by you. You can remove the laptop/pda, but the chip remains along with the settings.
What does your fuel gauge show? Also, what is the gauge connected to, the AFPR? BTW, AFPR = Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator. FPR = Fuel Pressure Regulator, means that it's non adjustable.

Hopefully, the previous owner didn't remove necessary items, like larger injectors or an aftermarket fuel pump, lol.

It looks like the gauge is connected to the fuel filter.
