Default Burning motor oil fast

i have a 1999 Eclipse GS Spyder with 80,000 miles on it. i changed my oil about a month ago and i heard clicking coming from my engine and i knew it was because of the oil. When i checked the dip stick i was 3 quarts low. i have only driven 1,800 miles since the oil change. There is no smoke or any leaks when i drive and park. any ideas?

The tick did go away after I added more oil I'm more concerned as to why I was three quarts low after only 1,800 miles.

Did you do the oil change or did you have a shop do it?

sounds like they either didnt put enough in or you have a small unnoticable leak. One thing i had happen to me when a shop did my oil change was they didnt put the washer back on the drain plug bolt and that caused a small leak. Luckily for me i caught it the same day and redid the oil change.

If you have no leaks and no smoke, sounds like the shop didnt put enough oil in it.

Next time do the oil change your self, fill it, mark the dip stick and drive it for 1k miles. Recheck and see if the oil dropped from the mark.
