Car Accident
Last night, going to a club in downtown Orlando, i got into a car accident. The vehicle being a 65 chevy killed my eclipse. It created a big gash in the rear quarter panel on the driver side. Right now i am waiting for the insurance agency to tell me if they are going to pay for it or what, but right now i am looking what to do. The damage being extensive included the bending of the plate in behind the brake drum of the driver side wheel. So now the car pulls to the left hard. I am going to have it repair but is it better for me to buy a whole new quarter panel, because that thing is huge. My friend said i would have to cut it out and then get a new piece. I found a friend that has a 99 mitsubishi eclipse, a red one, my eclipse being black i was thinking of buying that piece from him being is car is totaled in the front. He wants $175 for the piece, is that a good price or can i get it for less than that. What do you guys think.
I had that same acccident kinda man.... 175 isn't too bad.. But it's gonna cost you a good bit to get that put on there. Its the worst place to get into an accident. I never got mine fixed b/c it was 2g's and later on I got hit in the rear and the insurance company only charged me 600 to fix it after the fact, so I got lucky, but good luck with that man.
well if its not your fault then just get it done and who cares about the price. But thats not to bad for the part cuz i think those are pretty big. And like the person before said, its the hardest part to fix.
O.K. for those of you that don't know. The repair of the rear quarter panel consists of this: First they grind the paint and tac welds alond the inside of the trunk, the top of the pillar, and inside the cabin under the rear seat. They will then take that piece off after they break the welds and do the same to the donor car. then they will clean up both, tac weld the new one in place and then make eerything look nice.
This is NOT a cheap proceedure. Also if the guy is parting his car out I'd say that's kinda expensive unless he's going to be cutting the part off for you. Then it's fairly reasonable. Hopefully this enlightens you all and helps you figure out what route you need to take.

Does your friend havew any other parts for sale. I live out by UCF and could use a few parts like the plastic thing that goes around the passanger fog light. Also the cover that goes over the sunroof on the inside and aa few other parts. Let me know my email is just10dagr8@yahoo.com
I have been looking to repair the body of my vehicle. I have gone to MTS down here and they have found a piece for $350 that is black, and for that amount they would take it off the donor car. But, for me to put on my car, i would have to remove my side plus put it on, the body shop that MTS works with that works with imports says they would do it around $700 bucks, i think that is alittle too much. Does anybody agree or is that what looks like i have to spend?
