dsm problem
first off, i drive a 95 eclipse gs 420a motor.
two nights ago my car just shut down on me. while i was pulling over to the side i tried to down shift and it did but i couldnt gas it..my lights and radio still worked..so when i was stuck on the side of the road i started up my car again and it would start up but die out after 5 to 10sec.. when i towed my car home i started it up and it would start and run good, after a while of driving it would happen again shut off and have a hard time staying on..would anyone know whats wrong with my car???
i did the key dance thing to have a little self diagnostic check..these are the code that came up
12-airflow sensor fault
36-oxygen (o2) sensor fault
21-coolant tmp sensor fault
55-idle air control (iac) valve position sensor fault
would they be the problem why my car is acting theway it is???

RE: dsm problem
This question sounds familiar.
12 actually means that the battery was removed within the last 50 cycles.
55 actually means end of codes.
Look in the manual, those two aren't codes from the manual at all.

RE: dsm problem
Here's what the book reads..
21 - Problem with oxygen sensor signal circuit. Voltage not fluctuating....it should be.
36 - Open or shorted condition detected in the secondary air injection solenoid (manual tranny only).
So, you have an issue with the o2 sensor and your emissions equipment is going or is bad.
All of which have no bearing on the battery light. That is a charging issue. BTW, those codes will pop up if those sensors aren't supplied correct voltage...hint, hint.

RE: dsm problem
Here's what I would do...since you have a 95, I would go ahead and swap out the old ASD relay and change out the crank angle sensor. They react to heat as magnets do. Without the crank sensor signal, thecar will die because the ECU no longer "knows" where the crank is in it's rotation, just like it would if there's no cam angle detection. That's how the ECU knows when to fire the plugs.
