ok so i was told that the engine swap was that just a swap..i have a 97 eclipse gs, was in an accident recently..found a 96 gs AWD with a crazy bad knock in the engine, still starts and runs btw..my tranny is bad so i am just swapping the engines..anyway the car in the accident is a fwd and the new car is awd, is it as simple as swapping engines? like are the transmissions the same?

Are you sure? cuz i was just in another forum on facebook and they said no the awd trans would not match up with the 420a engine
