Hey guys, thanks for your response. The engine does not turn at all. Like I mentioned the engine does NOTHING. No turning, no cranking, no clicking. If you have ever tried starting a manual transmission without pressing the clutch in, it's exactly what happens. When I do get it to start everything works fine, no check engine light or funny engine noises. Hope this additional info helps.
Thanks!
Rene

I still say its your starter starting to go. What is weird to me is that usually once a starter gets to this point its usually just totally dead. Although sometimes you can hit it and make it work. But im still sticking to that being the problem. I just cant see it being anything else.

Thanks for your quick responses again. Initially nothing happens as I stated. However, after about 5 mins of turning the key with no results, EUREKA, it starts for no apparent reason. I tested the starting again by turning it off and trying to start it again a couple of seconds later with the same symptoms.

what i would do is take a hammer or a metal pipe or something like that and hit the starter a couple times to see if that speeds up the process of getting the car to start. If it does then its definetly your starter. The other way to test it is to pull it out and bring it to autozone

when you are inintially trying to start it, i'm assuming you have the clutch mashed down as hard as you can to the floor the entire time right? and you don't change the petal hardness at all??? could be something as simple as the clutch position sensor.

DING DING DING DING!!!!!! We have a winner!! Just got the call back from Mineke and that's what they said it was. I did mash the clutch down once (the last time it started) and it started. I guess it was it's last leg.
Thanks for your responses. I will be using this forum for all your wisdoms and to pass along some of the same experiences I've had with my Eclipse over the past 12 (13 in December) years I've owned it.
