ok i got a 96 eclipseand myfirst time driving it yesturday and it died. i've check the battery and it's good i had the altanator checked and it's good, changed fuel filter and thefuel pump works fine i had fuel at the rail, and i had spark on all 4 spark plug wires. so i need help with some ideas on what i should check next. Then my next question is i have the 2.0 420a motor but on mycam gears itsay 2.4L on them and there almost twice the size of my timing belt is that normal?

What is it doing when you try to start it?

 

when you try to sart it it turns over but very slow

 

did the car die while driving or is it just not starting. Maybe its your starter? Also check to make sure the timing marks no the gears are correct so that its not off. And the other thing it might be is the coil pack. Check the voltage on that

 

it just died while driving i drove it to the gas station fine then after a few hours went to drive it again and got 4 blocks from my house and it died. and baout the gears are they suppose to say 2.4L on them?

 

just out of interest is this a spyder? If not then i dont know why it would say 2.4L Could you maybe get a picture of the cam gears

 

no it's a coupe i'll try to get a pic when i take off the cover. i think i found the problem i took out the starter and had it checked at autozone and they said the starter didn't have enough torque to turn the engine and the gear was getting stuck out do you know if this gear getting stuck would cause the car to die while driving?

 

oh and to add to the cam gear part they both say "front" on them too.
