first time modding
I am new here and i have a few questions before i work on my car. I have a 97 eclipse gs that i would like to do a few things to to make it faster but i dont really know what would be the best idea. It is completely stock and I have a bout 1000$ to work with on it. Could anyone offer advice on what to put in it to give it that extra bit of power?

catback exhaust and intake are usually the first to things the improve performace. From there headers and maybe a chip if you like them. Personally i dont think they do all that much. But realistically you cant get too much more power out of the car without some form of forced induction

RE: first time modding
if you are wanting a powerplant that will wax evo's and sti's sell your car, spend that 1000 to make up the difference to get a GS-T or GSX trust me. if you want the kind of power i'm talking about it'll be a minmum of about 3-4K. but if you are just looking for something to pep up your car and don't care about burrying your head back in your seat. i'd agree with The Engineer, AEM or Injen Cold Air Intake, catback exhaust (2.25-2.50 is plenty big enough, any bigger and you will lose power), header, high flow cat, chip (i have one, i like it, i can tell a difference), and if you have anything else you could start your suspension or lightening your car.
