I recently just purchased a 98 GS with 75k miles. I was just doing some research and I even spoke with a mitsubishi service department while i was there about what it takes to turbo charge this GS. He claimed it was nearly impossible although I have came upon some cars online who had done it. Im interested in knowing what it takes to turbo charge this car along with what engine mods should be taken into consideration when wanting to do this.

My reccomendation is dont do it. You will spend alot of money and still have a slow car. Because turbcharging that car is gonna cost at least 3k. That is if you get a decent kit and all of the supporting mods to go with it. And please do a search on turbocharging the 420a because its been discussed many times

 

i spent over 1700 bucks getting parts together including a full bottom end rebuild kit and just quit b/c i realized that i had another 2k to go to get it decently powered w/ a tune. honestly if you have the money to turbo it.... you have the money to sell your current GS and get a GST or GSX

Theres little to no point in turboing a 420a. ...and before it even comes up, its even MORE pointless to attempt the 420a->4g63t swap.
