Head Gasket Leak...? on repairs
Ok, so I have this infamous head gasket leak on my Eclipse with the Dodge 2.0 NT motor. For any of you that have repaired this did you have to do the water pump at the same time? Does it make sense to do it while you're in there? I am planning to do the timing belt. Thought that a new one might wear out the water pump bearing if I didn't cange it out. What do you guys think?
If your going to replace your hed gasket change your timing belt and gears with it, youll save yourself a whole hell of alot of money, do everything at once, water pump would be a wise decision aswell!
If you've got the time and $ then go for it. IT'll save ALOT of time in pulling it off again later and replacing it. Besides it may be playing partial culprit to the whole head gasket problem in the first place. Why not take care of it now before it goes bad completely? (I've seen a water pump bearing go and watched as the pump straaight SHREDDED the teeth of the belt).
