Im positive its anti-freeze...i know im a girl, but i def. know what antifreeze smells like...thats exactly what i say...if the check engine light is one..somethings up..i would just call it a short of something, but the smell of the antifreeze says somethings wrong....i dont really ever notice the fans comming on...i checked for leaks around everything possible...heads motor, radiator...everything...i even checked to see if there was anti-freeze in the oil....nothing...if the thermostat was stuck i would figure that after driving it for while it would def. over heat....but it doesnt...i dont really think its a head gasket bc like i said everything is clean...no leaks...nothing like that...it isnt blowing any smoke...& i dont know about the radiator cap leaking and burning off?...its smell if ALOT stronger then if would just say...spill antifreeze on the motor while filling it and it was burning off...at first i thought maybe that was what happened....then heres comes the check engine light....Oh and the garage called & they havent had time to even look at the car yet...but i can already guess they wont have any clue what is going on...big suprise there....i dont know...i have no idea whats going on with the car....

No worries.

At this point its not the thermostat. The thermostat is not what gives the reading for the gauge (i believe) sk8. Its a seperate thermistor. So thats out.

At this point my best guess would be the radiator cap. I seriously cant think of anything else.

I know you weren't ******* me...its cool...and i am kinda informed...i think?...anyways yea, i cant rule out anything seriously wrong with the car...so it has to be something minor...i hope...but thank you everyone!

 

well, i had a feeling that it wasnt the thermostat, but the problem just sounded like a weird one and i was throwing out weird solutions haha... and yea the thermostat gives the gauge it's reading, why would there be a seperate thermostat for that? When my thermostat went bad my gauge never worked properly, then once i replaced it it worked fine
