Default How reliable

I'm looking into buying a new car. I've looked at so many things, its starting to make me sick. I've looked at almost every brand of car under the sun (except Kia, and Hyundai...POS). I'm just wondering how reliable the 2nd gen eclipses are. How long do they last after 100k? I found one, the guy is willing to drop the price (current price is set at 3750). I figure, even with the possiblities of c-walk, it would be a good buy. But the mileage is what concerns me. It has about 145k on it. That, to me, is a hell of a lot. I don't want to buy something thats gonna go on me at 150k. I know a car can go at any time if it hasn't been properly maintained, I know some cars will go no matter what you do to them (kia...*cough*). But how long are 2g eclipses known to last? It's 5 speed, which is the only reason I'm looking at it. Its hard as hell to find a manual transmission anymore. The only thing I'm really really picky about is the transmission. I just prefer straight stick.

No crankwalk? Thats good to know. Slow bothers me, but it can be made fast(er). You've helped put my mind to rest. I'm more excited about it now...a littile. Fast would be great but I'm looking more for fuel economy at the moment, since my insurance is gonna go up...becuase I had a wreck...but I can always save money from (hopefully) 30+ mpg and buy a turbo!...probably not but that would be great.

Fuel milage and speed dont go together. Keep the RS stock and get good gas mileage. Dont waste the money on a turbo for it. Without alot of money you wont make that car fast. Pretty much sums it up.

Hes right ^^^.

Dude they are only about 140hp. Pretty much the only way to make any power is to turbo them, and still they are slow. Not to mention the reliability goes out the window.

yea man, turboing the RS is not a good idea as it is not built for that kind of force, and if you do it right it is more expensive then just buying a GST or GSX

Use the RS untill you get your feet back on the ground and then when you have some money buy a GST or GSX, the insurance usually isn't that much different between the different eclipses.
