Installing new exhaust

RE: Installing new exhaust
if you take the stock gasket off and it crumbles in your hand, then you need to get another one. if not, then its fine. if you have to replace it, its just a universal gasket. just take you old one( or whats left of it) to autozone, napa, etc. and get another one. i had to do this with one of the other exhaust gaskets that went bad.

sorry to say it but your cousin doesn't know what he is talking about. there is a reason that gaskets were invented. it is a piece of material that goes between two pieces of metal to allow them to bolt together without leaking.
PS....you have a stock one that you can reuse

My cousin just told me a mechanic should weld the brackets at the cat convertor or I'll have an exhaust leak... ?? I always heard it was just a bolt on process and what not..

RE: Installing new exhaust
You should be able to unbolt it yourself. I wouldn't be worrying about the rust so much as the heating and cooling having welded the bolt to the nut. Either way you can still cut the bolt with a hacksaw.

RE: Installing new exhaust
Alright guys. I'll probably be working on getting it installed tomorrow (Saturday the 31st). I'll be taking picures during the whole thing, so I'll come back and post the results that day, or some time during the New Years holiday.
Hope every has a great New Years! And thank you for the help. It was greatly appreciated.
