Default Looking at a car need advice

I ran across a 1997 eclipse gs today in good condintion except that 1st and 2nd gears grind very badly and it takes effort to drive this car. They are asking 6900 for this car which I already know is incredibly steep. I do my homework. KBB is telling me that this car in perfect condition retails for 5900. I can't say that this car is showroom quality though. It has minor blemishes that become noticable upon close inspection. I guess what I am asking is what should I shoot for to pay for this car? is 5000 for this car fair? From what I understand they have put no work into this car yet. They took it as a trade in and the trade in value of this car at very best 2000. What do y'all think?

I got something right for once! That was about what I was going to say.

I guess I'm not totally useless after all, lol.

What they all said. Even in perfect condition im not sure why they said the eclipse is worht $5,900. That must be based on 30-50k miles on it and absolutely flawless condition. You gatta think man thats 9 years old.

Thanks for the advice. I'll hold out for a GS-T. I'm patient and that's what I really want anyway.

Yeah. Hold out for that really nice GS-T. Only thing better is the GSX, IMO. I got a 3kGT and I'd kill for either of those.
