Lots of problems!

Angry Lots of problems!

Just got screwed by a guy when I traded for his 1997 Eclipse...it has a lot of problems. First, while driving it home it wouldn't stay in 3rd gear, it kept throwing it out into neutral and the only way for it to stay there is by forcing it. And as the drive went on it would grind a little while shifting into 4th and 5th as well. He said there was a new clutch just put in and it is pretty soft. Could it just need to be bleed or a master cylinder??

Second problem is fuel. He put another fuel pump on it while I was at his shop and I think he put the wrong assembly in because on the way home it was leaking gas bad out of the fitting (attached picture.) We had a mechanic at the gas station we stopped at and he torqued it but said it was the wrong flare for the fitting. I'm not sure if he's right. This is a huge problem that needs fixed ASAP! Any ideas?

Third problem is the speedometer. It is not functional at all. There is a cable unplugged under the hood and we figure it's that but not sure.

Fourth Problem is electrical. The diagram for the fuse panel under the dash looks completely different than the actual panel. Where can i get a diagram for this fuse panel. Mainly because a few of the lights don't work, mainly because it was just repainted and the guy most likely didn't hook up all the lights after reassembly. There is no voltage going to the reverse lights or the license plate lights. Any ideas for access to connections? I've checked all of the fuses.

Any help with any of these problems is greatly appreciated

1) The problem is the intermediate shaft bearing. That transmission needs a rebuild. Also the syncros are destroyed on those gears that grind.

2) Get the right flare fitting.

3) The speed sensor is on the transmission, make sure it's plugged in.

4) I have no idea about your electrical issue.
