my tsi makes aloud sreeching noise when i start up the car in the AM? does anyone have any idea what this could be?

bad belt, replace it

 

If it is a squeel/whine then it is the belt(s) replace them.

 

definetly a belt.

 

Well I am gonna have to go w/ everyone else on this andsay belt.

 

it also wouldnt be a bad idea to replace all of the belts....usually if one is bad, the rest are or will need to be replaced soon.


i just had my ALT belt litterly explode on my way to work a few months ago, i lost power steering and could bearly see cuz my headlights were dim and just sucking power from my battery. and that was after a changed a different belt and said, eh the other ones will start to squeak or somethingand ill change them then. so i would suggest to change them all.

 

ok, thanks....is there any reason it only does it when i 1st start it up in the morning and the rest of the day it makes no screech/noise!

 

yes my car did it when my power steering belt was bad,it does when the car is cold,but as the car warms up the sound goes away,i know what ur going through the belts are only like12-15 bucks each so just cange them

 

If you replace the problem belt and it still dose it may be a bad pulley/part for ex mine did this and it turned out to be a bad alternator.

 

i know its not the alternator because i just replaced that....so i ll do the belts....good lookin out people!!!!
