Default magnetic wheel speed sensor

Where can I find themagnetic wheel speed sensor on a 1998 GST Spyder turbo. What will happen if its not working correctly?Sometimes my car idles 3,000 RPM's for no reason.Took it to 2 shops and they couldn't find anything wrong, of course it didn't do it then.
