im lookin for a car that i can use in scca production gt rally...my eyes are on a used eclipse gsx....i heard from others that there are timing belt problems with this car...and breaks down a lot...is it worth getting?

 

The only timing belt problem is if it slips, then basically the whole engine is gone. But it is a very reliable car for being a sports car.

 

Timing belt... its a big issue if it breaks... Im actually looking for timing gears so i dont have to worry about that. all else works great... and it has an incredibly stiff chasis. So with a little suspension beefing (tower braces, trick or high rate springs) the car handles great.

 

thanks for the info....also...how does a second gsx run after like 100,000 miles??? becuase on auto trader i see lots that are over 100,000 and run for liek 6000 bucks and higher....is it worth it?? its gonna be my rally car but i still need it to be able to run and still do some errands...

 

Depends on how they drove it and if they gave it oil changes regularly. If they are near you you should take it to a good mechanic to chekc the car, and look for frame damage. But i they took care of the car it should be fine, mines over 100,000 and the compression is almost the same as it was out of the factory.
