e always loved the Eclipse , now im finally considering getting one but i wanted some answers from as many people as possible. The one im thinking about getting has 124,938 miles on it.
Good?
Bad?
Anyone who has one i'd love the advice, what to look out for, what to know. Main thing ive heard but never spoken to someone about is how problematic they are. are they really as bad as i've been hearing?

You can't go wrong with the Spyder. If it's turbo it has a 2.0l DOHC turbo engine, or "4g63t" which currently holds the world record for the fastest 4cyl in the world. It is also nearly the same engine found in the Evo 8 and 9. If it's non-turbo, then it comes with a 2.4l SOHC stroker version of the 4g63, called the 4g64. Very torquey and can be easily converted to DOHC turbo.
As for reliability, many people have badged DSM's as unreliable and just all around mechanical nightmares. This simply isn't true. The source of these rumors is people who hear about the massive power they can make, buy one, turn up the boost and drive it like hell. It doesn't take a genius to realize that modifying an engine incorrectly and then driving it like a racecar will ruin ANY vehicle. Not just a DSM. Then the next guy comes along and buys the car after hearing his friends talk about it, and by then it is a mechanical nightmare. Once again, this can happen with any vehicle. There are things to look out for just like any vehicle like timing belts and faulty ball joints, so if you decide to buy the vehicle I suggest you join a DSM forum and read up on the common issues with these cars.
