Default Need help passing my eclipse for smog

I have a 98 eclipse spyder GS 2.4 liter. A while ago, I had a problem with the service engine light coming on, and it remained on for months. Then I decided to disconnect the batterey. When I took it in to have it smogged, the mechanic asked me if I disconnected the battery, and I told him that I did. He told me that I need to resest my computer by driving it around for a few days. I've been doing so, but it still won't pass, and it has nothing to do with the light that came on. The read out states that my catalyst, evaporative system, O2 sensor, HO2 sensor and EGR system are not ready. The dealer told me to do the same thing, so I'm lost. The only thing I believe that might be causing this to happen is that I have a Greddy catback exhaust. I was told by a muffler shop that my catalyst converter is not stock. I'm not sure if there is a 02 sensor on the stock catalyst converter for my model. If there is, then I guess that would be the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

and then drive straight to get tested. if you wait, the SES light will probably come back on and cause you to fail again.

you proly dont have a caytaltic converter. On the stock eclipse their isant one in the converter its after which you can see by just looking under the car. Chances are who ever had the car before you removed it or put in a highflow one thats not passing smog. Way to fix it- get a new cayt your car threw a cel for a reason.

This is a NORMAL occurance. With 98 and earlier models, the OBDII readiness tests results are erased when the ignition is shut off. Unfortunately, readiness monitors are checked for completion and is something that MUST SHOW AS COMPLETED in order to pass the functional check part of your emissions test. The very second you turn the key off, any successfully "completed" readiness test stored in the ECU's memory will be erased and switch to "incomplete". Completing a readiness test monitor requires a specific driving style for the ECU to run each test. It can be done with luck but the key is NOT TO SHUT THE KEY OFF when you get to the smog station. Keep the engine running until the vehicle is smogged. THIS ISSUE IS WARRANTABLE FOR UP TO 8 YEARS/80K MILES by your dealership as there is a TSB published for this concern. Your servicing technician will have to road test your vehicle and complete each readiness monitor for you to which you will either have to pick it up and have it smogged elsewhere without shutting down, or have it smogged at the dealership.
