ok well a little while ago i bought my 96 eclipse DOHC, and i was told that the idleing problem was the idle air control valve, well today i replaced it and it still idles from 300 to 1000 rpm, please help me out..when i bought the car it would start idleing right after it warmed up, then i went to go get something to eat one day and then it started idleing from around 300 to 1000 rpm..and then the check engine light plus the battery light came on..please help me

 

can you get the car to autozone or something and get the codes from the CEL. Is the idle flucuating?

 

its goin from 300 to 1000 rpm even when it warms up...but i took it to auto zone and advance and neither computer would even come on...not sure why

 

well check the battery / alternator for the battery light problem and see if it fixes that.

 

I had changed the battery in my Eclipse when I bought it.
2 weeks later the alternator took a ****.
The car sat for a few months before I bought it.
From my experience, the battery light is caused by the alernator not putting out enough voltage to charge the battery.
And the alternator on that car was easy to do, if that makes ya feel better.

 

alright well today i was thinkin in class today, so i went out to the parkin lot and unhooked the idle air control valve, started it, and it studered a little but until the battery light came on(about 4 seconds after i start the car) and now the car idle fine, after the studer, after i start it..what do you think
