New engine, what do you think?

New engine, what do you think?
I've had a few problems with my engine that to fix would probably cost me more in the long run to repair than just buying a newer engine. For example replacing my piston rings, valves and pulleys. I was thinking of dropping a JDM 2.0 modified turbo charged engine. I've seen them on websites for about $2,500. Anyone's opinions on that? I also am curious how much would an average mechanic charge to take out and replace the entire engine, tranny and all.

well i am looking to get my motor in my gs done and turbo ready. my macinest told me $1500 and t hat is high preformance pistons rings arms crank full head (incliding cams). the whole shabang. but depending on what you want determines the price. sending your current motor to a maciniest will be cheeper than buying a crate motor.

What year is your eclipse? Is it a hard top or Spyder? I talked to my mechanic who seems pretty decent with his prices and quoted me to rehaul my entire engine would run me around $2,600. I am looking to get my car with a turbo or just get a JDM engine with a turbo already in it. That would be about $2,500 but the cost to swap the engines exceeds the $2,600 to overhaul my engine.

My engine is a 2.4 liter. Do you know if I install a 4G63 JDM Turbo engine into my eclipse which currently is 4G64 engine, will it be compatible with my computer and wiring? Just curious before I spend money on something that may be way too expensive.

I may just overhaul the engine now and turbo it later when I have the money. Does anyone know what the average amount is to have a mechanic do an entire overhaul on my engine? Is $2,600 too much. I know this guy does an excellent job, but if I can get it done cheaper and still a good job, I'd rather do that and save money for something else.
