Default Newbie - GSX vs. GST

2g Spyder's suck????? wha??? We come with the 4g64 stock, can do an AWD swap with hardly any modification to the undercarraige, we have the extra bracing as in the gsx, weigh about as much as a non-turbo(2888lbs no fuel), plus almost everything that can go on a gsx or gst(including engine parts, heads, manifolds, no pistons though) can fit with no problems on our cars. Plus it's cheaper(car and insurance)than a hardtop gst. I'm failing to see how this can be a good base for an awesome DSM street car....please explain. You're reminding me colussus in a way....disillusioned and confused. I can understand your POV though, when people see the GS they think chrysler. They don't realize it's a totally different car. Totally different. But if you still think it's crap.....well....what isn't crap then?

Well, yeah, 3g's suck in general. But i was talking about the 2g Spyder GS(my car). All that stuff is for the Spyder GS. They're great little cars when you get to realize what they're truly capable of. The spyder GST is like the hardtop GST, but can do the AWD swap. The GS comes with the 4g64(not 420A) and can basically do everything the Spyder GST or even hardtop GSX can do. With more power, after the turbo and awd converson . Remember, 4g64 = 2.4l 4g63.

So far i have done the 1g DOHC head swap running '93 NT cams, and the 2g ecu swap for the rev limit. I'm leaning it all out with the SAFC since i had to use the 450cc low impedence injectors. I'm looking at camry v6 high impedence because they're rated at 320cc's, but i'll need a maft to recalibratefor the smaller injectors. With all this done, i'm probably only putting out 155hp crank, if i'm lucky. But my power band is great, tons of low end torque(for a 2.4l NA anyways) and finally all the high rpms i've wanted. At full song, it sounds great, very throaty and deep. It's no F1, but it's good enough for me. And the ram air setup really shows how much air this engine can suck in. That ram-air is probably where most of the extra power(stock is 141hp)comes from though...so i dunno. On the highway it's super responsive. I'll be putting my pics of the ram-air install up if i can figure out how to get my pics from my cell-phone to the computer. I now have a (shop-made)shiny aluminum 3.5" pipe from the fascia going straight up to an aluminum box with stock type filter. To those with turbo cars, you will either need an FMIC or some way of rerouting air to your SMIC. You can use whichever filter you like, but i prefer the stock type K&N because it was my first mod on the car and my daddy got i for me.It's hard to let go of....

BTW, 3g' are alright, they're just not the hard-core perfomance cars the 2g's and 1g's were. Anyone with a 3g, don't take that the wrong way. Sorry, I don't mean to discriminate. They're more about looks than performance, altough shops like DDP are changing that perspective as we speak. You guys have turbo kits, twin-turbo kits, and even superchargers now. So you guys are "catching up"

I just have this to say...........No GSX owner ever felt the need to shift to a GST whereas a majority of GST owners could kill for AWD. If you want all round performance.......go for a GSX !!
