Default pistons

anyone know why you can't install pistons from the bottom of the block? Taking off the head seems like a lot of unnecessary work. Thanks guys

you need to take off the head because you have to hone the cylinders after removing the pistons

also, if you put them in from bottom, wouldnt you need to remove the crank which is alot of work?

yeah i hear its a pain in the ***. I know the tranny is enough of a pain to get out. But if i were to change out the pistons I would replace the crank, rods, bearings, etc as well. This is just hypothetical of course. I'm broke.. I just always wondered by you couldn't/shouldn't put them in from the bottom
