white somke = head gasket and a bluish tint = oil consumption.

Its the head gasket. The stock head gasket is only clamped to 50lb and thats why they always blow. Get it changed

what model eclipse are we talking about here first off. And the easiest way to check if you have a bad head gasket it to do a quick compression test on it.

White smoke is water, blue is oil, black means your running rich. The question you need to answer is where the water is coming from. Like earlier posted, there is a good chance that you have a head gasket leak, but that may not be the case. The reason I say this is your other comment about it being cold in your area.

If your area has suddenly gotten cold, you may be experiencing water in the gas. This could have come from a recent fill up, or if your gas tank was under half and you got a sudden drop in temp, water could have condensated in you tank.

You stated you were going to do a compression check...GREAT! If that shows no problem, put a bottle of "heat" or related product through the system and fill er up with some good fuel.

Good luck.
