Ok I have a 99 Eclipse GS...I looked under the hood at the little label and according to it I havea 420A. Well I'm just wondering if this is an uncommon engine or something. It seems that every site I go to they don't have stuff fora 420A. Some don't even associate a 420A with my car. Here is an example: http://www.innerauto.com/

If you go there and enter a99 Mitsubishi, on the next page choose Eclipse...after that itasks for the engine type. Well mine is the first model butI don't have an A588.

 

that is the correct engine. stock factory engine. try www.slowboyracing.com

go to search and search for 420a

forgot to say... your engine is a 420a... period... thats what ya search for.

 

The 420a is the non turbo engine in the 95-99 eclipse/talons. It is a very common engine and you shouldnt have any problems finding mods for it. The 4g63 engine is the turbo 90-99 eclipses the early years had the 6 bolt bottom end and the later years the 7 bolt.

 

first off, that site that you posted for an example of "can't find my engine" i found it... second. what kind of items are you looking for? if you are looking for performance parts let me first forwarn you that your car will not be very fast without investing at least 5k into the engine and turbo kit. the max power you will get out of still being N/A is apx 150-165whp. 420a = A588

It is just another designation for the engine. So yes you can get parts for either designation.
