Default 03 Lancer Question...service engine soon.

Hey guys...

Guess my first post on here is a question. We had a pretty tough blizzard out here earlier this week, and unfortunately I had to drive throught it to get to work. I went through about 5-6 inches of standing snow, then had the "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light come on. Now, I can't get the car over 50-55 MPH. I'm thinking something regarding O/D or maybe even a tranny issue, but I can't be sure. The earliest a shop out here will see me is Monday. Any ideas? Thanks!

does the car have a stock intake? check the air box or filter make sure it isnt clogged up. I dont see snow affecting a tranny or motor. I have driven in the snow for a long time and never had any trouble other than some cold starts where it struggels to turn over and that is all.

Sounds like an idea. I'll give it a look. Car is stock, so that could be the issue. it was just perplexing that the car runs fine til about 50 MPH, then gets sluggish and Accelerates really slowly. I'll look into that.

that sounds like a clogged intake to me. my spyder when i had the stock intake had no plastic pins holding down the air funel that goes in the lip of the bumper and hood so when I would floor it the car ran fine till about 4500RPMs then it fall on its face and was really slow because the funnel would move up and suction onto the hood and wasnt getting enough air
