well ya they have diff weight oils so you can find 10w 30 ect ect ect. all depends on your car and climate

The problem with going from regular oil to synthetic is that synthetic is, for lack of better terms, more slippery. Good for engine... right?

If your engine is worn, problems may occur where you can experience synthetic oil leaking past the rings and into the combustion chamber, where regular oil will not do the same thing.

Don’t be surprised if you change over to synthetic and your car starts blowing blue.

If, however you have been lucky enough to get a car that has had full synthetic in it from the beginning, life should be perfect.

there are synthetic oils for higher mileage engines. and i think they made it for that reason.

i've been told that is is not only ok but recommended to use synthetic oil HOWEVER once you go synthetic you can NOT go back to regular oil. or it will begin to tear ur engine up.

Well think about it this way: Synthetic is man made, not relying on fossils to create it. It's proven to have a longer life and breakdown period. It won't gum up (Unlike Quaker State oil), it also has the benefit of being slicker comparitaved to regular oil. es due to the synthetic nature it's molecularly smaller than fossil oil BUT on the other hand that's what makes it slicker. Think about the oil like ball bearings. Take a bunch of big 1" ball bearings out of a CV joint. Line a table with them. Now put your hand on them push and try to move them. Now take a bunch of smaller ones and do the same which ones move easier? But on the same note now take them all and put them in a collander which ones fall through? Synthetics are beter but also more expensive. And once you run synthetics through your engine it's not generally healthy to switch back. Synthetic can get into places regular oil can't. If you have leaks in the engine then you will DEFINATELY see them after running synthetic oil.

Synthetic is also good for horsepower. Synthetic has less friction than normal oil so your parts don't have to move as fast to produce the same power as with normal oil. Of course to get the full effect you need to change you engine, transmission and diffs to Synthetic. You will even get better gas milage (about 5 to 10%) because engine does not have to work hard.
