aight i need some suggestions.
i recently signed up for this auto-mechanics class. basicly we can bring our cars into the shop and work on them, of course you have to buy your own parts though. anyways its kind of like a place to do alittle work on my car. its one day a week for 10 weeks.i'm thinking of catching up on some maintenance. next week i'm going to change my oil and probably going to change a tensioner and a belt. i also plan on flushing all my fluids in a couple of weeks.
anyways i need some suggestions on what i can do. nothing too big though cause we only have 3 hours each week.
anyways i have a 97 eclipse gs with 112xxx miles.

 

Change the timing belt and tensioner.

Change the tranny fluid, and engine oil.

 

can you do a head gasket in three hours

agreed. another thing i was thinking if you had the money for them would be a set of cams if you are wanting to go performance. you can swap out cams relatvely quickly and easily but a decent set of cams will run you about 300-600 bucks. you could also get an EGR Blockoff plate (it's not that hard, it only took me about 30-45 mins to do but it's something), you could install a SAFCII if you knew your wiring...

no need for me to do that cause when i got the car it was bad so i already got that done.

i dont think ill be doing the cams cause of the cost in those.
but a SAFCII is tuning device, right? i only have a GS. not trying to turbo what-so-ever. i only have a cat-back so far. looking into intakes, but i think i might cut it off there. would it be worth putting the SAFCII? and there are other people there that knows a bunch about cars already, so they could help me out with the wiring,and i think the only reasons whythey are there is so they can work on there cars so there wives don't yell at them. lol
anyways is it easy to bore the throttle body? its just something that i'm looking into, and if they got the right tools i just might do it.

 

extremely easy to port the throttle body, i did it to mine and saw a decent gain in accelleration/throttle response.

you can use the SAFCII even if you don't have a turbo to tune the car to get a lil more HP out of it but you'll need a wideband to pair it with so you know where ur tuning it to.

 

ic, what is the price range and could i find it at a local performance shop.
