Default stock block hp

hey guys i am just getting interested in the dsm world, and i have a few questions. well first off, i currently drive a wrx with only a few mods, and i know after about 350hp i am going to have to change my internals...which is not what i want to have to do. i am looking for about 450hp on stock internals, and i was advised to get into an eclipse 4g63 or 4g62 (i think this was one of 'em). is it true these motors can handle that amount of hp with stock internals? if so why is that? i dont want to get rid of my car if ill have to do that same thing with a dsm at 350hp...thanks for any comments you might have.

they can handle that type of hp on stock internals cuz they're solid as hell. Very well engineered. I found this website in my travels, does a good job explaining http://www.overboost.com/story.asp?id=121

i dont know if i necessarliy agree with that. rods are slightly thinner, and cranks are out of spec, yes, but they have been proven to be able to withstand just as much power on stock parts as 1gs. ive seen some 7 bolts well into the 400whp range.

agreed. if you were to get the crankshaft upgraded/changed/fixed to where crankwalk wouldn't be an issue, the 2G can handle just as much as a 1G.
