Default stock BOV trick

I have a 97 gst spyder. A friend once told me that you can make the stock BOV work like an aftermarket one w/ the sound and stuff. He said all you had to do was remove the hose coming off of the BOV and leading into the intake and then seal the hole in the intake. When i tried this it did work and it sounded amazing. But when i took it for a test drive, it would die down at around 3000 rpm. Has anyone ever heard of this or done it? and if so what do i have to do to make it work? I mean if i can have the sound that it makes for the price of nothing or very little...id be very pleased. but i need help! thanks.

I am pretty sure that is normal if you remove the hose, you have to have it on for the Mass Airflow Sensor to work right, you will loose power, You have to remove the MAS and get a stand alone system if you want it to work properly. I am not 100% sure on that but I think that is what I have heard

You might get flamed on, since most people will tell you the sound isn't worth the hassle. The car ecu is setup to account for the air coming back into the intake so that why your stalling out or bogging. You need to spend some money to make it work right with a GM maf and a Maf T setup and tune for it. Or you can upgrade your intake and remove the cover. You should be able to hear the BOV release then also. Just not as loud.

just get a stock 1g bov and the adapter from slowboy, with 3 day shipping its like 40 bucks and the bov is easy to find, good bov and it sounds amazing, even with the pipe connected. sounds a whole lot like the one from the fast an the furious if thats what ur lookin for... not a big fan of that movie myself but i think the bov is amazing plain and simple, wish i could get some sound clips of mine to put on here

my guess is that all you did was remove the hose and didnt plug up the holes that it leaves and thats why its bogging. It will also want to stall from time to time because of the missing air. Just put the hose back. Its not good for the car to run it that way
