found a 1997 eclipse rs for 600 might buy it the guy just through down 1200 bux in parts last week he said hes out cash and when he was on the turnpike it started making a knocking noise in the engine does anyone know what it may be it is a running 2.0 dohc i know nothing about eclipses except i want to learn more about them and get one

 

could be a spun bearing. which means the motor is junk

 

Try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. Drop the oil pan and see is there is any metal.
