RE: third tail light
well i know some places light the crapy state i live in (maryland) you wont pass inspetion without the 3rd brake light if your state has an inspetion you should ask someone who is certifid to inspect i know when i had my supra the wouldnt pass it because it didnt have a 3rd brake light but the cops wouldnt do **** about it because well lets face it most cops problly dont know **** about cars so they dont know if it was saposed to have a 3rd one or not...but anyway yeah you can get away without haveing it as long as you dont have to deal with inspections

RE: third tail light
i noticed everyones different opinions about this subject.
i was only asking cause i was unsure myself ...
when the brakes are being stepped on, the lights flash brighter than how they are now. it indicates to the drivers that you are stopping/slowing down. to my knowledge and common sense, if i see a brighter light coming from a the back of someones car, i slow the **** down.
if i havent mentioned it already, the import scene in fast and the furious had the green eclipse w/o the third brake light. (its a movie, i know)
but i also noticed that the back window was completely tinted out.
some of the tuners here cut their tints AROUND the third brake light for better visibility and it did not "pass inspection".
i live in new jersey, and im not sure about the laws here either, but when i bought the vehicle, it was missing the brake light. i tried a few junk yards here and there and still have not found one. i wasnt gonna kill myself over it, so i said to myself that id rather just tint out the back or maybe buy a flexible LED strip and make my own.
i've had the car for almost 4 weeks now, and i havent gotten any complaints about it .... i might just keep the brake light out for a while.
theres a giant crack in my exhaust though ... and a valve cover leak i still have not had the time to get checked out .... i think mechanical priorities are in order.

i just threw a few extra bucks to get the inspection passed actually ... and as for the tickets ... well. cops need to feed their kids, so i'll pay their salary once and a while.
