Default throttle positioning sensor

Hi all, Ive been gone for a while i m in the army and had to deply for a little while. But heres my question. The other day it started storming really hard (i live in florida) it was really bad but i had to drive about 5 miles in it till i could find a spot to pull over. Well my car was drinched and my belts started slipping, the then it started puttering and now the cel is on. It was scanned and came back that it was my throttle positioning sensor the guy looked it up and said all he had was one for a 97rs and mine is a 98rs but it was 127$ he sugested i take mine off/apart and clean it with carb cleaner. He said the thing ether opens or closes. Is that accurate info and were is the tps on a 98rs (420a)?

P.S. i used the search but got 0 replies for, throttle positioning sensor, tps, throttle, and positioning. Seems like the search feature is broken.
