Timing belt

RE: Timing belt
It's a fairly involved job, mainly cuase of the space restrictions. If you had it out it wouldn't be that bad. All depends on how comfortable you are with doing it and if you can put the car up for a little while to get it done. Look into it, buy a workshop manual and decide if it's something you want to do. I'm lucky, I checked mine out a while back and it looks in excellent condition and was probalby replaced by a previous owner.

RE: Timing belt
the eclipse timing belt is not a fun thing to replace. i do all the work myself on my car but i dont mess with the timing belt. if you've never done it before the tiniest mistake can destroy your engine. also, like vert said there is limited space and a lot of things need to come out to replace it.

RE: Timing belt
Some garages, depending on the car, will actually pull the engine to do work on the front end cause with the facilities it's easier that way cause it takes you so much less time to do the work when you can actually move around it.
