Hey everyone,

I'm looking at a '99 Eclipse that the owner says grinds when shifting into 3rd and 4th gears. He says if you double-clutch they'll go in fine with no grind.

So is it the synchromesh? That's what I'm thinking.

Would the whole transmission need to be replaced? Just 3rd/4th gears? Just they synchro? Is it possible to replace certain parts of the transmission with Eclipses?

Its possible to replace curtian parts of a tranny however a reabuilt tranny is gonna cost about the same as a replacement tranny with less work. Your best bet would probably be to finda working transmission from a junkyard for around $400.
