Default starter grinds when starting

Hey all, I have a 94 diamante 3.0 dohc - every time you go to start the car it grinds. I have replaced the convertor/flywheel twice, starter twice (last one was from the dealer) still grinds. I even replaced the transmission and conv/flywheel from a 95 diamante and it STILL grinds. Anyone have any thoughts on this? i have sunk alot of time and MONEY trying to cure this problem. Any thoughts would help ajsdad

Are you sure you've got the right starter for it? If so, maybe you could shim it. Sounds like it doesn't have proper clearance.

Its the starter. I had the same thing on the GST. Tried changing it? If it still works you might just want to keep it until it actually stops functioning

It sounds like you either have clearance issue or the wrong starter installed on the car. When you pulled the trans was threre a spacer on the engine block?
