Default Transmission fluids

Apparently I need to get this done according to a guy at Meineke. Anyone know how much this usually ranges? He's charging me $120 for it. I've never done this before. I'm not even sure if it's necessary. And I'm not sure if I'm getting a decent deal. He said the fluid I have is black, and that's supposedly bad.

The transmission fluid should be like cherry red, so the sooner the better, $120 is to much normally around $65 to $100 max. Does this include the flush and use Dexron II ATF if you have an automatic. If you can't find Dexron II use Dexron III that is compatible with Dexron II. If you don't do it, it going to fry your tranny.

wow thats a lot, um... if your car is manual it should be fairly easy to do by yourself, or if you go to a mech dont accept anything more than 60~75. i honestly dont know about automatic, i had a 93 240sx auto, i got quoted 110 for it. good luck

I was quoted $75 from a place the other day for my saturn w/ an auto tranny. And i probably wouldnt pay much more than that for it.

If its a manual, you can do that yourself. and i would suggest BG syncroshift for a manual

I havean auto. A friend of mine said that I could just refill the fluid, and not worry about flushing or w/e you have to do. Is that true? Could I just refill the fluids myself and save money?

You should flush it out and its abt 99.00 to abt 120.00 depending where you go. Also when shopsflush it they dont usually replace the trans filter.

At this point you should drain it then refill. If you know the car have been flushed regularly then continue otherwise don't do it. Since it an auto use ATF {Automatic Transmission Fluid} and you could do it for about $10.
