Transmission Oil question

RE: Transmission Oil question
Haven't used or even heard of that so can't help you there.
However, if you're looking at transmission oil change, I've heard nothing but great feedback on BG Syncro Shift or Redline.
I like the Scot Gray mix which is 2 quarts Redline then top off with BG syncro shift. Comes up to just the right thickness, or at least it feels that way.

RE: Transmission Oil question
I don't know what was in it. We bought it used and the acura dealership where it was did a full service on it before selling.
I've also heard good things about redline and amsoil products... real popular with the diesel truck guys.
Where can I find these brands of ATF? Local stores or do I have to order it?

RE: Transmission Oil question
Just get a tranny fluid that was designed for synchro transmissions, it will say right on the label. They are sometimes hard to find. If your tranny is quirkey/hard to shift I would get BG synchroshift. I believe you can buy it at a GM dealer. Its literally a new tranny in a bottle I never thought a fluid could make such a difference.

RE: Transmission Oil question
Noooooooo..........
Mitsu cars 2000 and up use ATF SP III fluid. This is a proprietary semi synthetic blend. It is used by Mitsu, Hyundai, and Kia. Do not use anything unless it says it is SP III. It is only available at those dealers. I hear it is cheaper at Hyundai and Kia.
Amsoil claims that their fluid is SPIII rated. I would just pay the bucks and use the Mitsu or Hyundai fluid.
Prior to 2000 any Dexron III fluid is acceptable.

RE: Transmission Oil question
Mercon/Dexron III and Dexron IV are transmission fluids commonly used in most auto trans cars. Kia uses a special type of trans fluid (The shop I work at carries a few quarts just in case).
