Default Tune Up time

Hey guys, I have a conflict right now about my eclipse. I own a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS, it has 77,000 miles on it right now. It is a rebuilt motor so the timing belt was changed at or around 30,000 miles. I was wondering, when should I change the belt because I had it checked and he said it will start wearing around 80,000 on the current belt. Now, does that mean I need it changed at that mileage or can it wait. Due to the fact i am having a hard time finding cheap insurace do to my age, 18 with 3 tickets and two accidents noting that one accident with eclipse I had to pay 1000 with the deductible and now i am finding that i have to change the timing belt which is around 1000 to change. Thanks.

Timing belts are meant to last 100k. However they recomend you change them every 60k

I've always heard 80K for timing belts. But then again my cars all have timing chains...
