Default Turbo double whistle

I first noticed it when it started getting colder outside. Even my friend, who is a woman, noticed that it sounded different than usual. Basically it sounds like a turbo spooling up, but it sounds like two. I dont think that it is the death whine. I dont know how old the turbo is, but it could very well be on its way out. I forgot but my mechannic reminded me there is also a 2 1/4' universal catalytic converter on my 3' exhaust which probably doesnt help the turbo breathe. I am getting either a high flow cat or test pipe to replace that later this week.

But anyway I was just wondering if the whistle meant that the turbo it was starting to die. Thanks.

It might be on its way out to die. Take the intake off and see if you can make the compressor touch the housing. Just wiggle it.

The wheel will touch the housing I think that it is normal to have shaft play in that direction BUT ONLY MINIMAL I think it is in and out it shouldnt move.

Okay so in simple terms, the shaft may touch the housing, but any play in the shaft itself means the turbo is garbage, correct?

basically hold the shaft, wiggle it up and down and side to side, if its moving alot then its bad, then try and push it in and out, if it can do that then its really bad
