Is a Venom 400 Performance chip a good idea?
I'm looking for a relatively cheap upgrade to add maximum horsies, i've been reading up on a Venom 400 performance module, and for $299 it promises to add 25% more horsepower, is this bs, or a good buy? BTW its for an 07' Eclipse GT

as far as i know the only application for the 2g n/t. i used to have one... it gave me a small but noticible difference... nowhere near 25% though. you're better off getting a safcII and street tuning it. yo'll get more out of it.

well im currently sitting at 263 horses, and i want 300 before i head back to iraq so that when i get back i can put however many thousands into a twin turbo setup and break the 400 barrier, any ideas? the goal is to save $ while adding power.

i'd say don't waste your money on parts right now that you will be taking off when you get back... that 263... is that wheel hp? or is that the stock hp rating that they give you from the dealership? there's a difference, if that's the stock hp that you got from the dealer than you are at more like 235-240whp

well it's not easy to gain 70whp w/o some kind of forced induction, but there are ways to help. Cold air intake and exhaust are usually the first steps. from there you can do other things like oversized throttle body, head work, valve jobs, raise the compression of the engine (not smart since youll be dropping it when you turbo the car), or hit it with a nice 50-66 shot of nitrous.

no prob. but honestly if it were me.... i'd get an intake (at least an k&n filter if you dont have one already) and a cat-back exhaust. depending on how your car handles mods can give you up to 5whp per mod. the exhaust you can still used when you go to turbo your car and the intake you can sell. you could also get a wideband and SAFCII... you will have to have a wideband when you get your turbo kit for it and the SAFCII you can used to do a small tune on your car now and when you turbo it.
