Default Wish I knew

I own a 02 Eclipse GS, bought it new and currently has 36550 miles. About 2 months ago it shut off on its own, but turned back on all on its own. Took it to the dealer and they found nothing. Recently it has started doing this again. Occasionally the radio will cut in and out. And the bigger deal: I will be driving down the road, any speed, and all of a sudden I lose everything (no radio, no display, press the gas pedal and nothing, I lose everything). 1-3 seconds later it comes right back on.

Jil, I had this happen to me before... when my alternator was going bad. We charged up the battery to start the car, (You can run the car without the alternator.... but your battery is the only thing powering your lights, radio etc.) So I wen tto drive it during the day, with nothing turned on.

We had forgotten to put the battery cables on completely like they should be... before driving. As we were going along, the car would cut out.. and come back on... go out.. come back on. Noticeably when we hit bumps or dips... I would suggest, making sure those things are on... even the dealership can miss something.. but maybe it's a connection somewhere, where the power is failing to make the connection to the rest of the car.

And if you bought it new? Could you ask to get a different, similar car instead of that one that is defective? (If it is.)
